Biographical Text
Sue Mason was born in Michigan in 1940. After college she attended the Philadelphia College of Art, now known as University of the Arts, before travelling extensively. After 15 years painting watercolours of flowers and landscapes, she began working with acrylics and produced abstract paintings and collages.
Recently she has been creating monoprints at the Lee Art Center in Arlington VA, where she is a member of the Printmaking Studio. Her work has been exhibited widely in the Washington DC area.
Of her art practice she says "I am inspired by the colors and infinite patterns in nature and by the textures and designs which can be created using letters and calligraphy. The letters and words are never intended to be read. There are no hidden messages. I would like to weave all the elements into one unified composition."
