Biographical Text
Michael Smallwood was born in 1950 and raised in Washington D.C. From 1972-1976 he attended University of Maryland graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art. He worked for almost 30 years as Assistant Registrar at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. An accomplished painter and photographer, he currently owns and operates Michael Smallwood Photography, and has two paintings registered with the Smithsonian American Art Museum. He is known for exploring geometric abstraction in his art practice.
